HC Deb 21 May 1984 vol 60 c324W
Mr. Marlow

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science why mature students will not get the £160 travel grant available to other students based at home.

Mr. Brooke

Mature students living in the parental home will receive the higher allowance for travel in the same way as other students in a similar position. Those living away from the parental home, who receive a higher rate of grant, will receive the same allowance for travel as other students in the same position.

Mr. Straw

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether, under his proposals for changing student travel repayment arrangements, mature students still living in their parents' home would be treated in the same way as other students living in their parents' homes.

Mr. Brooke

Yes.
