HC Deb 21 May 1984 vol 60 c354W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the progress made by the South-East Thames regional health authority in establishing a regional secure psychiatric facility.

Mr. John Patten

The South East Thames regional health authority and the Bethlem Royal hospital and the Maudsley hospital health authority have been jointly planning secure facilities comprising a central unit at the Bethlem Royal hospital and peripheral units at four hospitals in the region. Building work is well under way on all units. The regional health authority is currently considering the revenue funding of the Units with the Bethlem Royal hospital and the Maudsley hospital health authority and the district health authorities concerned.
