HC Deb 21 May 1984 vol 60 c320W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many police officers from the Metropolitan police have made visits abroad in the past five years to observe or discuss policing methods; and what countries were visited.

Mr. Hurd

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis tells me that, in 1983, 23 Metropolitan police officers made visits abroad to observe or discuss operational methods of many aspects of policing. The countries visited were the USA (15 visits), France (3), Holland (3), and Sweden (2). Similar information for earlier years is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
