HC Deb 21 May 1984 vol 60 cc344-5W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what are the Manpower Services Commission's proposals for the down-grading of the Moss Side jobcentre to a job shop; what is the reason for the decision; and whether he is satisfied that adequate provision for the high unemployment of Moss Side will continue.

Mr. Peter Morrison

The Manpower Services Commission has recently approved a strategy for the future development of the employment service under which there would be more Jobcentre outlets but greater variations between offices in the range of services provided. The aim is to have detailed plans agreed before the end of the year. Hence no firm decisions have yet been taken about Moss Side jobcentre.
