§ Mr. Andrew Bowdenasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he expects clause 1 of the Health and Social Security Bill to come into effect immediately the Bill shall have received Royal Assent.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeNo. Clause 1 is, by virtue of clause 27 of the Bill, subject to a commencement order. It is our intention to make orders in respect of subsections (1) and (2) at an early date following Royal Assent. Subsections (3), (4) and (5) will come into effect on 1 April 1985. Subsections (6) and (7) apply Schedule 1 parts of which will be brought into effect on 1 April 1985, and others later.
