Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the number of stops under section 23(2) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the resultant arrest for drug offences in each of the Metropolitan police divisions in 1981, 1982 and 1983.

Mr. Hurd

I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that the available information is given in the following table. Figures are not collected centrally separating those arrests for misuse of drugs and those for other offences.
