HC Deb 21 May 1984 vol 60 c308W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the number of Customs officers specialising in the prevention of drug trafficking in the county of Cumbria in 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983.

Mr. Hayhoe

None. Local staff based in Cumbria cover the full range of preventive duties as required. Mobile teams supplement the work of local staff on an occasional basis. Specialist (drug) investigation staff are organised on a national basis and local staff in Cumbria are able to call upon them as necessary.
