HC Deb 21 May 1984 vol 60 cc310-1W
Mr. Stuart Holland

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether, in view of the financial difficulties currently facing Bolivia, Her Majesty's Government have any plans to increase aid to that country.

Mr. Raison

The levels of aid provided by Britain to developing countries are kept under constant review. The Government are fully aware of the economic difficulties facing Bolivia at present and welcome the new measures which the Government of President Siles have recently introduced. Despite the need to reduce aid programmes elsewhere, we are planning to maintain the volume of our technical co-operation to Bolivia this year at approximately the same level as in 1983, when some £1.2 million was disbursed.
