Lord Dunleath

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the cost of running the Benefit Allocation Branch of the Department of Health and Social Services in Northern Ireland, and from what area of Government expenditure does such funding come.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Northern Ireland Office (Lord Lyell)

The cost of running the Benefit Allocation Branch in the 1983–84 year was £435,000. These costs are met from the resources voted in Class X Vote 4 to cover the administration costs of the Department of Health and Social Services.
