HC Deb 18 May 1984 vol 60 c301W
Mr. Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what delays in sending out girocheques to pensioners are being caused by the overtime ban at Newcastle; and in which parts of the country pensioners are affected.

Dr. Boyson

In recent weeks, pensions paid by payable order have been liable to delays of two or three days due to an industrial dispute at Newcastle. The pensions computer is now affected by a strike, and emergency payment arrangements, which have been publicised in the national press, are operating. All parts of Great Britain are affected.
