HC Deb 17 May 1984 vol 60 c243W
Mr. Terlezki

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many inquiries were received by small firms information centres in Wales in 1982 and in 1983; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

My Department has one small firms information centre which provides advice and information to small firms throughout Wales. The centre received 14,929 inquiries in 1982 and 16,128 in 1983.

Within these totals inquiries from those wishing to start up in business increased by 21 per cent. which shows that the Government's policies, aimed at creating an environment conducive to enterprise and initiative, are succeeding.

Mr. Mark Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many inquiries were received at small firms information centres in 1983.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

My Department's small firms centre, which provides advice and information to small firms throughout Wales, dealt with 16,128 inquiries in 1983.
