HC Deb 17 May 1984 vol 60 c231W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Attorney-General, why he decided not to prosecute on the papers sent to him relating to local government corruption in Islington and Hackney prepared by Detective Chief Inspector Brian Woolard.

The Attorney-General

In each of the two cases concerned, the Director of Public Prosecutions concluded that the evidence was insufficient to justify criminal proceedings. In such circumstances, there is no requirement that he refer the case to me and in neither case did he do so.
