asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many young people have received injuries whilst on a youth training scheme in (a) each county and (b) Wales since its inception.

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the information is available only at regional level and up to 31 December 1983, by which date 25 injuries had been reported in Wales.

The information is not available by county, but on an area manpower board basis, the numbers of young persons on youth training schemes as at 31 March 1984 were as follows:

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many young people in (a) each county and (b) Wales have had their benefit cut as a result of coming off the youth training scheme prematurely or because they refused a place when offered.

The information is not available at county level. However, between 1 September 1983 and 31 March 1984 the unemployment benefit service has temporarily reduced the benefit of 237 young people for unreasonably refusing a suitable place, and of 500 youngsters for leaving a place prematurely.

* Early leavers have been defined as all young persons who have left four weeks or more before the due termination date and include those who have found work, enter further education and those who later rejoin the scheme.
