HC Deb 16 May 1984 vol 60 cc164-5W
Mrs. Dunwoody

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the total income from National Health Service lodging charges in 1982–83 and 1983–84; and what is the estimated income for 1984–85.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Annual accounts for 1982–83 submitted to the Department by NHS authorities in England show total income from lodging charges as £29.4 million.

A figure for 1983–84 will not be available until the autumn. An estimate for that financial year or for 1984–85 would be purely speculative.
