HC Deb 16 May 1984 vol 60 c181W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what information is available to him about the balance of financial flows between developed and developing countries in the latest year for which figures are available.

Mr. Ian Stewart

In 1982, which is the latest year for which figures exist, net financial flows from developed countries and multilateral organisations to developing countries are estimated to have totalled almost $110 billion. This consisted of $51 billion in private commercial capital flows, $26 billion in official development assistance, $23 billion in official or officially-supported loans, $7 billion in IMF net lending, and $2 billion in grants by private voluntary agencies.
