HC Deb 15 May 1984 vol 60 c153W
Mr. Home Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is his Department's policy in relation to the suspension of unemployment benefit for claimants who may be involved in an industrial dispute where such claimants had been made redundant before the dispute had started.

Mr. Alan Clark

The benefit entitlement of claimants involved in a trade dispute is governed by section 19 of the Social Security Act 1975. Decisions on claims are made by the independent adjudicating authorities and all cases of doubtful entitlement are suspended whilst the necessary inquiries are made.
