Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will outline the help and support given by the United' Kingdom to the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Mr. Raison

The United Kingdom has continually supported the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees with regular contributions to its general programme and special appeals. In 1984 our contribution to the general programme will be £3.4 million cash plus £2 million food aid. Responses to their 1984 special appeals to date amount to a total of £3.95 million divided as follows:
