§ Mr. Peter WalkerFollowing publication in December 1983 of the report on race relations—"A Review of Personnel Policies and Procedures in the Civil Service"—a race relations policy statement was agreed and adopted throughout the Civil Service.
Prior to the coming into operation of the Commission for Racial Equality's code of practice, my Department's policies and procedures were re-examined by officials of my establishment and finance division. Additional guidance and instructions were issued to all staff on 6 April together with a copy of the policy statement.
