HC Deb 14 May 1984 vol 60 c7W
Mr. Arnold

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will give his detailed reasons for rejecting the proposals for the line of route of the proposed A6(M) Stockport north-south bypass submitted by Offerton community council.

Mrs. Chalker

I announced last August that the proposed blue route is preferred because it fits better into the existing land form and has a less damaging impact on the environment. It would also be more expensive and environmentally damaging to link the Offerton community council's alternative to the A6 in the Stepping Hill area.
