HC Deb 11 May 1984 vol 59 c477W
Mr. David Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what estimates he has made of the net import requirement of natural gas to the United Kingdom for the period 1985 to 1995 approximately.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

The United Kingdom has no requirement that its natural gas supplies should be met from a particular source, imported or otherwise. Contracted imports, which currently account for some 25 per cent. of United Kingdom supplies, are expected to remain at approximately their present level until the beginning of the 1990's.
