HC Deb 11 May 1984 vol 59 c476W
Mr. Cyril D. Townsend

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will give the anticipated timetable for the opening of new service stations on the M25 and M11.

Mrs. Chalker

I hope to be able to announce my proposals soon on the new motorway services for the M25 and M11. I cannot make firm predictions about dates because of the possible need for planning inquiries for some of the sites. But I hope to invite tenders for two of the M25 sites and the Mll site by the autumn, and to have them open in 1986.

Mr. Cyril D. Townsend

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will consider abandoning plans for an M25 motorway service station at Poyle near Heathrow airport because of the high noise levels at the site.

Mrs. Chalker

In considering sites for a motorway service area on the west side of M25 I shall take full account of all relevant factors including the noise levels at Poyle.
