HC Deb 10 May 1984 vol 59 c441W
Mr. Cohen

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make available in the Library a copy of the representations he has received, and the replies he has given, concerning the diplomatic implications for the United Kingdom of sporting and cultural visits to South Africa.

Mr. Rifkind

On 13 April the Ethiopian Government made oral representations to Her Majesty's ambassador at Addis Ababa about the forthcoming tour of South Africa by the Rugby Football Union. I am arranging for copies of an exchange of letters between Major General Joseph Garba, chairman of the United Nations special committee against apartheid, and Sir John Thompson, United Kingdom representative to the United Nations, and for press releases by the Organisation of African Unity to be placed in the Library.
