HL Deb 10 May 1984 vol 451 c1127WA
Lord Balfour of Inchrye

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress has been made during the last year in developing the Thames as a salmon river; what was the total catch in 1983; what is the highest point from which any fish was taken; and whether the river authorities are considering removing restrictions on the numbers of fish allowed to be taken and on the seasons during which they may be taken.

The Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Lord Belstead)

Responsibility for the regulation and management of the salmon and freshwater fisheries in the Thames rests with the Thames Water Authority. I shall therefore write to my noble friend when I have obtained the information he has requested.
