HC Deb 10 May 1984 vol 59 c431W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he is satisfied that when Associated British Ports becomes a totally private company British Transport Police will continue to operate at ports under their control and ownership.

Mr. David Mitchell

It is for Associated British Ports, whose parent company is now entirely privately owned, to adminster the statutory powers and obligations in respect of policing that it inherited from the former British Transport Docks Board.

The extent to which the British Transport Police continue to provide those policing services is for them and Associated British Ports to decide.
