HC Deb 10 May 1984 vol 59 c434W
14. Mr. Parry

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what recent representations he has received concerning the proposal to phase out the tax relief on British citizens temporarily absent from the United Kingdom.

Mr. Moore

I have recently had meetings with the General Council of British Shipping and the unions representing the seafarers and airline employees. Since Budget day, we have received some 400 letters on this subject, of which about three quarters relate to the position of seafarers.
