§ Mr. Kirkwoodasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the figures for expenditure on schools clothing grants made under section 54 of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980 for each education authority in Scotland in respect of the financial year 1982–83 as a per capita figure for each child in each region who could qualify for clothing grant.
§ Mr. Allan StewartAssistance with clothing under section 54 of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980 is available only where a pupil is unable to take full advantage of the education offered because of the inadequacy or unsuitability of his clothing. This is a matter for decision by education authorities in the circumstances of individual cases and it is not possible to say how many pupils could qualify under these arrengements
