§ Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will publish in the Official Report the number of overseas residents who have been dialysed in National Health Service renal units in the London teaching hospitals or their ancillary hospitals during the three months commencing on 1 January and the fee charged in each hospital for one dialysis; and if he will make a statement; (2) how many foreign visitors have been dialysed in National Health Service renal units in the six months commencing 1 October 1983.
§ Mr. John PattenInformation about the numbers of overseas residents who have been dialysed in NHS renal units is not held centrally.
The charges made by all classes of NHS hospital under the NHS (Charges to Overseas Visitors) (No. 2) Regulations 1982 as amended by the National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) Amendment Regulations 1983 in respect of dialysis were as follows, during the period 1 January–31 March 1984:
For Haemodialysis or intermittent peritoneal dialysis— £ (i) with training, at a hospital per session 83 (ii) routine, at a hospital, per session 76 (iii) routine, at home, per session 51 For continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (inluding continuous cycling peritoneal dialysis) per day: £19.
Information is not available about the fees charged to overseas visitors who were dialysed as private patients.
