HC Deb 08 May 1984 vol 59 c353W
25. Mr. Stanbrook

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received opposing the partial closure of the accident and emergency services at Orpington hospital; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

We have received nine letters, including one from my hon. Friend, the Member for Orpington, opposing the proposed permanent closure at night of the accident and emergency department at Orpington hospital. I understand that Bromley health authority will shortly be considering the responses to its consultation document on this and other proposals and will decide how to proceed after taking all the views expressed into account.
