HC Deb 08 May 1984 vol 59 c350W
3. Mr. Hickmet

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether, following the recent report on the Rayner scrutiny on non-ambulance transport services in the National Health Service, there will be similar Rayner scrutinies on other areas.

Mr. Fowler

I have already published Rayner studies on transport; the non-emergency ambulance service; recruitment advertising; and central stores. I expect to publish another five studies over the next few months.

47. Mr. Neale

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what has been the progress of the programme of Rayner scrutinies in the National Health Service.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

We have received seven Rayner scrutiny reports and are awaiting two others relating to catering services and communications between patients and hospitals. We have published four.

Study Date published
Use of Non-Ambulance Transport 5 March 1984
Non-Emergency Ambulance Service 16 March 1984
Central Stores Policy 29 March 1984
Recruitment Advertising 10 April 1984

We are currently considering three studies on: the collection of income due to health authorities; the collection of payments due to health authorities under the provisions of the Road Traffic Act; and residential accommodation in the National Health Service.
