Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give, for each year since 1970 and for each regional and district health authority, the total number of staffed beds in National Health Service hospitals.

[pursuant to his reply, 23 March 1984, c. 608]Information for individual districts is not available for years before 1974 and could be supplied for 1974–82 only at disproportionate cost. Figures for district health authorities for 1982 would not be directly comparable in all cases with those for health districts for 1974–81. Regional figures are given in the table.
