HC Deb 08 May 1984 vol 59 c301W
Mr. Andrew F.Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what action has now been taken by British Telecom on behalf of his Department into the complaints made by the hon. Member for Denton and Reddish on 5 March about misuse of citizens band radio.

Mr. Butcher

The hon. Member will be aware from the answer given to him by my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State responsible for corporate and consumer affairs on 30 January at columns35–36 that the radio interference service is available to investigate cases of misuse of citizens' band radio where this can be done without prejudice to priority work. The radio interference service has been asked to look into the complaints in question; to date it has been unable to take any action owing to pressure of other work.
