HC Deb 08 May 1984 vol 59 c319W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what response he has received from the Civil Aviation Authority to his request that it considers privatisation of its airports in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland; what action he is taking as a result of this response; and if he will make a statement on the future of the airports.

Mr. David Mitchell

The Civil Aviation Authority has indicated its willingness to privatise the aerodromes and undertaken the necessary preparatory work. A number of questions about the terms and conditions of the sale have arisen out of this work and I am currently considering these. I hope to be able to respond to the Authority shortly and that it will then be in a position to offer the aerodromes for sale.
