HC Deb 04 May 1984 vol 59 c243W
Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will announce the names of the commissioner and members of the inquiry into the proposal to increase toll charges on the Severn bridge.

Mrs. Chalker

The inquiry will be conducted by an inspector, from the panel of independent inspectors, who has yet to be nominated. I shall write to the hon. Member as soon as the names of the inspector is known.

Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will reconsider his decision to hold the inquiry into the proposed increase in tolls on the Severn bridge in England, or arrange for some of the hearings to take place in Wales.

Mrs. Chalker

The Crest hotel, Hanbrook, Bristol, was chosen because it offers convenient access by road and rail to both Welsh and English participants.
