HC Deb 04 May 1984 vol 59 c239W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Minister for the Civil Service what recent steps have been taken to increase the numbers of disabled employees, registered and unregistered, within Government Departments.

Mr. Hayhoe

All Government Departments have been reminded of their obligations to comply with the provisions of the Civil Service policy statement which appears in the Cabinet Office annual publication "Independent". Bi-annual meetings are held with departmental disabled persons officers to discuss problems and to encourage them to do all they can to recruit disabled people in a way that is consistent with the principle of fair and open competition.
