§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals he has published for merging the Water Research Centre Directorate, Stevenage, with the Water Engineering Laboratory at Swindon; where he has published them; and what consultations he has made relating to these proposals.
§ Mr. WaldegraveNone. The Water Research Centre is an independent research association whose council would be responsible for any such action. But I understand that the staff of the Water Research Centre at Stevenage has been told that the future of that laboratory is to be considered by the council.
