HC Deb 03 May 1984 vol 59 cc188-9W
13. Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will raise at the European Economic Community Council of Agriculture Ministers the substantial increase in the sales of subsidised food and wine to the Soviet Union with a view to securing the termination of such subsidies.

Mr. MacGregor

The best approach, which is that of Her Majesty's Government, is to reduce the need for subsidised exports by policies designed to curb the production of surpluses in the European Community. The Government will continue to oppose any proposals for exports to the Soviet Union on specially favourable terms.
