HC Deb 03 May 1984 vol 59 c188W
Mr. Michael Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will publish the report of the counter-pollution operations taken to deal with the spill of oil from the Sivand on 28 September 1983.

Mr. David Mitchell

The report of the measures taken at the end of last September by my Department to deal with the oil pollution in the Humber estuary from the tanker Sivand is published today. The report gives an account of the counter-pollution operations carried out by my Department marine pollution control unit and concludes that these operations were generally successful and that pollution damage to the estuary appears to have been less than might at first have been feared. A copy of the report is being placed in the Library of the House.
