HC Deb 03 May 1984 vol 59 cc195-6W
Q4. Mr. Williams

asked the Prime Minister if she will list her official engagements for Thursday 3 May.

Q5. Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Prime Minister if she will list her official engagements for Thursday 3 May.

Mr. Jopling

I have received no formal representations from the National Farmers Union about Professor Dickson's work as chairman of the Agricultural Wages Board.

Mr. Foulkes

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what criteria he uses in appointing the chairman of the Agricultural Wages Board.

Mr. Jopling

In making such an appointment the Secretary of State for Wales and I seek a person who has a sound appreciation of the nature and economic slate of agriculture, is neutral between the two sides but able to command their support, and who has the personal qualities necessary to guide the work of the board effectively.
