HC Deb 03 May 1984 vol 59 cc224-5W
Sir Anthony Kershaw

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has formed of the likely cost of 15 per cent. value added tax on the cost of building extensions and refurbishments of buildings owned by his Department in each of the next five years.

Mr. Ancram

An initial assessment suggests that the cost to my right hon. Friend's programmes of the extension of value added tax to building alterations on buildings owned by the Scottish Office will be of the order of £8.5 million in 1984–85 and £10.5 million in each year thereafter.
