§ Mr. Merchantasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will take steps to prevent more effectively the smuggling of heroin into the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. HayhoeHer Majesty's Customs and Excise has had considerable and increasing success in dealing with this traffic as can be seen from my answer on 12 April, at columns 347–48, to my hon. Friend the member for Crawley (Mr. Soames). The Customs will continue to seek ways of improving its effectiveness in this area.
