§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Prime Minister if she will define the operational significance that the detection of an oiler by HMS Conqueror on 30 April 1982 and the visual sighting of Belgrano by HMS Conqueror on 1 May 1982 still retained on the day of publication of Cmnd. 8758, "The Falklands Campaign, The Lessons".
§ The Prime MinisterDisclosure of these facts would have given the Argentine navy valuable information on the methods of operation of British submarines. They were therefore not revealed until it was considered prudent.
