§ Mr. Chris Patten[pursuant to his reply, 23 March 1984, c. 598]: The advice of the fire authority for Northern Ireland was sought at the design stage in respect of 41 leisure centres at which three or more activities are undertaken. The fire authority has no statutory duty to inspect leisure centres, in respect of which it acts in an advisory capacity, and has no comprehensive information as to whether its recommendations have been implemented.
