However, a survey in October 1983 of individual schemes being operated as part of the youth training scheme indicated that 1,922 of the 4,218 mode A schemes covered used subcontractors to some extent for the provision of work experience placements. The remainder either did not use subcontractors or the extent of their use of them was unrecorded.
