HC Deb 29 March 1984 vol 57 cc244-5W
Mr. Williams

asked the Prime Minister if she intends to amend the rules relating to ministerial conduct, particularly those relating to clash of interests.

The Prime Minister

I have nothing to add to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Hackney, South and Shoreditch (Mr. Sedgemore) on 18 January 1984 at column 243.

Mr. Williams

asked the Prime Minister whether, under the rules of ministerial conduct, Ministers are expected to try to ensure that their immediate family alerts them to involvements which could be construed as giving rise to a clash of interests for the Minister.

The Prime Minister

I set out the general principle in my reply to the hon. Member for Wrexham on 23 January 1984 at column 380. Its application is a matter for individual Ministers.
