HC Deb 29 March 1984 vol 57 cc247-8W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the increase in construction in 1984–85 which will take place as a result of industrial buildings allowances.

Mr. Peter Rees

The latest forecast by the joint forecasting committee of the civil engineering and building EDCs suggests that there will be a marked increase in industrial building work in 1984. It is not possible to isolate the effects of the availability of the industrial buildings allowances on levels of activity in the construction industry from other factors.
