§ Mr. Freudasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if the trustees of the health promotion research trust were informed of the source of the trust's funding;
(2) if the trustees invited to serve on the health promotion research trust were informed of the proviso that there must be no research into tobacco-related disease; and if he will publish in the Official Report the terms and conditions of their engagement and the information they were given about the trust's work.
§ Mr. John Patten[pursuant to his reply, 27 March 1984, c. 165]: The nature and purpose of the trust and the arrangements for its funding were explained to all those involved before they agreed to become trustees and were published in the Official Report on 27 October 1982 at columns 441–442. The trust is an independent body and the terms and conditions on which trustees are appointed are matters for the trust itself.
