asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when draft regulations implementing the amendments to the European Economic Community directive on cosmetic products (76/768) will be published; and if these regulations will cover directives 83/574, 83/341, 83/496 and 83/514.

Mr. Fletcher

Draft regulations to implement the European Community's latest cosmetics legislation were published on 24 February and circulated for comment to representatives of industry, commerce and the enforcement authorities. The consultation process will be completed by the end of this month and the regulations laid as soon as th Parliamentary timetable will allow.
