Mr. Gould

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was the weight given to gold and silver, respectively, in the trade figures for manufactures in the 1975-based and 1980-based volume and value indices.

Mr. Channon

Gold is not a component of manufactured goods. The weights given to gold within miscellaneous goods and within total trade are as follows, together with the weights carried by silver within manufactured goods.
