Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has had discussions with the Charity Commissioners about the management of the homes given to Help the Aged under its gifted housing scheme; if he has had an opportunity of having discussions with the chief officers of Help the Aged; and if he will make a statement.

No, but I understand that the Charity Commissioners are making inquiries of Help the Aged.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how much social security payment and how much supplementary benefit has been paid in total (a) to the donors and (b) to the occupiers of the Help the Aged properties in Rustington, West Sussex, Lindfield, East 30 Sussex, Lowestoft, Colchester, Skegness, Salcombe, Luton and Woking; if his Department has made any contribution to the Help the Aged gifted housing scheme; and if he will make a statement.

No contribution has been made by this Department to the Help the Aged gifted housing scheme.
