HL Deb 28 March 1984 vol 450 c332WA
Lord Underhill

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is proposed to make additional financial provision to the Belfast Library Board to avoid any possibility of closing local libraries in the deprived central areas.

Viscount Long

No, it is primarily a matter for each education and library board to decide on the priority which should be accorded to the public library service within the overall level of resources available to it.
